From Mailman to Optimus Prime

It was Community Helpers' Week in TJ's pre-school. They were visited by a dressmaker and carpenter who showed their materials and demonstrated what they do. It was a week full of activities although the school had to modify the schedule because of classes being suspended on Monday (burial of INC's Manalo) and Wednesday (Typhoon Maring).

As a final activity, they were asked to dress up in a community helper's outfit. The easiest outfit that I could think of (given the school encouraged us not buy anything new) was the outfit of a mailman. I looked at his cabinet and found a hand-me down polo shirt, brown pants that I saw for the first time (probably another hand-me down) and a small messenger bag. I placed some loose envelopes inside the bag. As a final touch, I printed the logo of Philpost and double-sided taped it on his shirt. Voila! An instant mailman.

TJ was quite excited this morning to wear his mailman outfit. He is also excited about the fact that they will be visited by firemen today and a firetruck will be entering the school. At one point though, he asked me "Daddy, sunog ba school ngayon? Punta kasi firetruck."

I intended to watch their parade inside the school after my class. Unfortunately, a truck and a car collision along Katipunan near Miriam College caused ****** traffic. When I arrived at the school, the parade was already finished.

Fortunately, I instructed our househelp to take the picture of TJ before he goes to school. Here are some of the pictures:

When I fetched him from school, this was how our first dialogue went:

"Wow, laki ng firetruck. Color red and blue. Parang Optimus Prime."

"TJ, hindi firetruck si Optimus Prime."

"Oo nga. Pero red and blue sya, di ba?"

Okay. I asked him about the costumes of his other classmates. :)
